What a week this has been! So much tragedy. My heart truly goes out to the victims of the Boston Marathon and West, Texas. So much pain and suffering. And yet, my faith in humanity is not shaken but revitalized. Amidst evil deeds, we find so much goodness in people. The actions of this week are another example that we as a human race are not gonna “let the bad guys win.”

When I think of the earth, I think of gardening. And gardening to me means not only delicious fresh veggies and herbs, but flowers. Beautiful flowers to fill the house with. And sunflowers are a favorite (they were even part of my wedding). So I was very excited to hear that Kate’s Creative Space was starting The Great Sunflower Race of 2013! Check out her blog for details and join the race by planting some sunflower seeds!

And don’t forget there is still time to Vote for my Balsamic Strawberry Pie photo in the Food Stories April Food Photo Contest! You can vote as many times as you like and I greatly appreciate any and all support!!

Boy, Kenley, it seems that we’ve had more than our fair share of bad news this week and I find myself wondering where it’s all going to stop. I guess things like cooking, tablescaping, blogging are what we do to take our minds off the other stuff. Take good care.
Yeah…it’s hard sometimes when there is so much tragedy going on. But the best we can do is look at the joy that we find around us and do things that make us happy — all the while helping out whenever we can.
Take care as well!
I saw a quote by Gandhi today that struck a chord: “You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty”. Let’s keep our doors and our hearts open… Have a wonderful weekend with your loved ones.
What a great quote!! And so appropriate! Hope you’ve had a great weekend!

Seriously, what a week! We don’t have TV, but I’ve been following the coverage of the events in Boston on my phone and computer…and it’s so true that amidst tragedy, the strength of the human spirit shines through. I love that tweet that you shared. My prayers are with the people of Boston right now!
Thanks for the reminder about earth day! I would have forgotten that. And how yummy does that cupcake look with all of those bright colors?
Snagged a few more votes for your photo. Hope it helps!
Have a happy weekend, my friend.
Yeah…we don’t have a TV either but have been staying in touch with everything via computer and phones as well.

Thanks for the shout out, Kenley. I hope you are able to get your hands on some loquats soon!
It was my pleasure! And crazy — I actually dreamed of loquats last night!! Loquats as fruit, loquats as art, loquats as glaze colors for pottery. So weird. They are definitely on the brain!!
