When thinking about what to write about for this month’s Collectively Creative — The Lucky Edition, my mind immediately started to think of rainbows and unicorns. Both are quite lucky. And what could be more fun than having a rainbow and unicorn themed party? Having this party as an adult! What I’m about to share is not focused on having a kids theme party with these elements. Adults need whimsy and fun just as much as kids do! Regardless of age, we all deserve a little luck that can be brought by a party surrounded by rainbows and unicorns!
As you’ll notice, there are some festive ways to decorate with a rainbow theme without going too junior. The idea is to take one or two elements and use in a couple select areas to give a colorful but classic feel.
These colorful DIY lanterns are made from balloons and yarn.
Origami cubes in a rainbow of colors give a clean and modern look.
I love this festive table skirt…And the hanging umbrellas are so fun.
These unicorns are plastic figurines spray painted silver to give more of an adult feel.
I love this floral arrangement with the head of lettuce. Flowers are a wonderful way to bring “pops of rainbow color” to your event.
Invitations can be as simple as using different colored paper. Bunches and Bits takes things a step further with these creative invitations made from paint chips!
Creating a rainbow theme can easily be achieved utilizing the foods served as well. This is a perfect party to break out the fresh veggies and fruits!
This beautiful salad bar is both elegant and rainbow inspired!
Creating a rainbow with fruit is not only festive but very tasty!
And after all the healthy salad and fruit, your guests will certainly deserve one of these desserts:
Encourage your guests to wear their favorite color. And if your guests are in the spirit and want to get their ‘unicorn’ on, offer them one of these party hats:

The balloon lanterns are great! I’ll need to make those for something! Everyone needs a little color!
Yeah, I really like them too — and depending on the colors used, they could work for so many different parties!
Kenley
What a great theme. Please don’t forget my invitation card for the next round. 🙂 Lovely work Kenley.
🙂 Will do Danny! 🙂
This theme is so great! It combines two of my absolute favorite things, proving that grown ups can totally appreciate them. Would you consider doing a dinosaur themed party? I’m not above making baking soda and vinegar volcanos and assorted other kid crafts.
In the meantime, I just saw this post about a rainbow scavenger hunt on And Then We Saved. This would be a cool activity for your party! You could provide the rainbow booklets to guests and let them loose on your backyard or a local park for scavenger hunt fun. http://andthenwesaved.com/rainbow-scavenger-hunt/

Oh I would SOOO do a dinosaur themed party — I actually have already been collecting ideas on Pintrest for the last couple months to end up doing a prehistoric party for adults. (who doesn’t LOVE dinosaurs!!)
Thanks so much for the scavenger hunt tip that you saw on ‘And Then We Saved’! What a great idea!!
Kenley
YES! Great minds think alike. Can’t wait to read the dinosaur party post…and then use your ideas to host a fabulous prehistoric shindig.
