One of the delicious cookies that my friend Heather makes every year as part of our Holiday Cookie Baking Party are Snickerdoodles! Rolling cookie dough in sugar and cinnamon equals heaven! Here is the recipe that she uses which is part of the Betty Crocker Cookbook – Wedding Edition.
Snickerdoodles — from Betty Crocker Cookbook
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Beat 1 1/2 cup sugar, butter, shortening, and eggs in a large bowl with medium speed.
Stir in flour, cream of tarter, baking soda, and salt.
Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls.
Mix 1/4 cup sugar and the cinnamon together in a ramekin.
Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mixture and place two inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 10 minutes, or until golden and set. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.

This is such a fun tradition to share with you each year. I store mine with a slice of bread in the container so the cookies stay soft and chewy.
I love sharing it with you too!! One of my favorite all-time holiday traditions! I really like the idea of storing them with a slice of bread!
So classic and sooo good! Every time we make them the kids and friends snap them up…
I agree… sometimes the classics are the best! 🙂
What’s your secret for keeping them soft?? Something I’ve been trying to figure out myself 🙂
My friend Heather says to store them in a container with a slice of bread — keeps them soft and chewy! 🙂
I always forget about these and I love them. I am going to save this and if I have time make a batch.
Cynthia
They are so yummy! 🙂
We’re going to save the recipe for our next baking session too!
How wonderful! 🙂
I was suppose to make these this year but never got to them. Now I am disappointed that I did not make them! They look delish! I might just have to get out my recipe and make them. 🙂
Haha, I’ve been there! 🙂 Thanks!
Easy enough, I will try it. Thank you for sharing.
You are quite welcome!
My new oven will be here on Sunday. I’ve never tried these before. Its time! Thank you for sharing. They look so good.
You’re welcome! I really hope you like them!
Kenley

Oh I highly recommend giving them a try! They are so yummy!
Snickerdoodles – my all time favorite cookie and my first successful cookie as a 12 year old. These look yummy!
Thanks! Yeah, I love them — nothing beats cinnamon and sugar! 🙂
