I wanted to create a fun and festive tablescape for some lunchtime entertaining that we did this past weekend. Despite being lunch, I still wanted there to be an elegant and classy feel to the table without going into an “evening look”. I played with a color scheme of red, gold, and balsam green. The snowflakes, pine cones, and pears add some whimsy to the look, along with using owls on the place cards.
To add to the casualness of lunch entertaining, I kept the height of the decorating low to promote conversation. The small cluster of green candles in the center provide ambiance without distraction. Snowflake ornaments were placed (minus their strings) on the table runner to add more visual interest.
The snowflakes were also used as “coasters” underneath the white wine glasses.
The place settings were kept simple but elegant with a green folded napkin, pine cone, and menu card. Menu cards are a great way to add a touch of class to your tablescape, and be informative to your guests at the same time! Gives them a good understanding of what to expect with the meal! These I just created on our computer with a pine cone wreath design at the top to match the real pine cones being used on the napkin. I have a bunch of 4×6 card stock that I keep around for whatever might come up. That same card stock is also what I used to create the place cards.
Lovely tablescape.
