Holiday Entertaining: Don’t Forget Pie!

Thanksgiving Apple and Pecan Pies

We love pie in our household.  And there is a bit of a reason.  My pie recipes have been passed down from my family and they are extremely great!  That being said… I will not be able to share with you the recipes for the pies that you see in the picture before you (apple on the left, pecan on the right).  BUT, homemade pie is such a wonderful touch to your Thanksgiving meal and I highly recommend making the pies yourself if you are able.  And don’t forget the Homemade Whipped Cream as well!

The following are some links for some great pie recipes that you can try out:

Martha Stewart’s Pies and Tarts

Chocolate Espresso Pecan Pie

Scrumptious Apple Pie

Alton Brown’s Pumpkin Pie

This is the first year I’ve made my own pecan pie, and the middle didn’t set! Has this ever happened to anyone?!

    It still tasted good, though…

How long did you bake it for? I’ve found that pecan pie tends to take longer (because of the middle) than most pies.

Let me know what you think!
