Adventures in Everyday Entertaining
With Halloween approaching next week, not to mention the Mayan calender’s end of the world prediction coming up in December, I thought it would be fun to share some fun ideas for having a Halloween party with a Zombie Apocalypse theme.
Many parties can be made all the more fun when turned into a costume party. Halloween, of course, lends itself perfectly to this! Plus, all the face paints, etc. are readily available for purchase this time of year. A zombie costume also doesn’t have to cost your guests a fortune. They can rip and shred old clothing that they no longer wear, perhaps add a wig, and put on makeup to make them look “undead”.
Costume parties can be made even more fun when you make it into a contest! Have prizes for the most undead, most comical, etc. In addition to a variety of Halloween fair out there right now, you can also find fun prizes that are sold all year long. Like these bar glasses that can be purchased at World Market:
Decorating can be made as simple or as complex as you’d like. “Zombie Crossing” metal signs are readily available and can be posted around your home. Like the one found here on Etsy:
Speaking of Etsy, there is even a complete “Zombie Apocalypse Party Package” that can be found:
Food can be named and displayed to give a more “zombified” feel to the evening. Here are some other fun recipes of treats to complete this theme. Click on the images to be taken to the recipes.
And my favorite:
To create these fingers: Store bought sugar cookie dough, roll out to size, make indents with a toothpick, add almond, cook to directions…but watch out, they get bigger when cooked! Sprinkle with cinnamon! EASY and GROSS! 🙂
Add a twist to your Halloween entertaining this year and have a Zombie Apocalypse theme party that your guests will never forget! And of course, no Zombie Apocalypse is complete without it’s anthem:
Bonus Points if you and your guests do the entire dance in your living room!!
