When “L” and I first started planning our small, low-key backyard wedding, we didn’t really think about food. This may seem extremely strange seeing where so much of our day to day life centers around our love of cooking. However, we were thinking more in line with budget and keeping things simple since we didn’t what it to turn into a production. So, all we were going to have was pie. Both of us like cake, but it isn’t the end all, be all for us. Pie on the other hand. Pie is wonderful and perfect! So we had three types of pies. Apple, Key Lime, and Pecan. Notice all are made with fruits/nuts from trees. We planted a tree for the ceremony. Sense a theme?!
During our experience planning our wedding, we discovered that we have the most amazing friends in the whole world! Two of our very dear friends felt that we would regret it if we didn’t have some yummy bites for us and our guests to nibble on. They offered to design an appetizer menu with our approval, prepare all the food, and set it up at the house. I started calling them ‘CK Catering’! (Neither of them are professional caterers but gosh, they really should be!!) The two of them suggested a food theme of Mediterranean cuisine since they know that we both very much want to travel the Mediterranean some day and if money were no object, that would have been where we would have honeymooned.
Our menu:
The food and the way everything was laid out couldn’t have been more perfect! I was so incredibly happy. There was truly a feeling of rustic, Mediterranean atmosphere around the appetizer table.
My friends were right. Food is such an important part of our lives and has a lot of significance to our relationship. We would have regretted not having it present at our special day. And we can’t ever thank Chris and Kristin (aka CK Catering) for everything they did!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Colors here are so robust! We’ll be featuring some wedding planning so will likely link back here — these are great for Wine Country. Thanks!
Thank you so much! Greatly appreciate it and look forward to seeing the post.

Oh my gosh! This is a dream menu!!!
Thanks! Our two friends that made all the food are amazing! They locked onto the idea that we really want to visit the Italian and Croatian coasts and ran with it.
Congrats for your Good Neighbor Award Nomination! Blessings, Mtetar
Thanks so much Mtetar! 🙂
You’re always very much welcome. I look forward to sharing. Blessings, Mtetar
