“L” and I love to cook. It’s actually one of the things that brought us together — pouring through recipes and determining fun ones to try for dinner. I’m the chef and “L” is the sous chef. Cooking is fun no matter what the atmosphere, but there is nothing better than having the kitchen of your dreams to do it in!
We have several ideas for what we would like to have our kitchen in this house become. There are limitations due to size (and the fact that we don’t want to create an addition out the east wall of the house. But there are some great projects to be had, even with limitations. New cabinets, new flooring, a backsplash, and updated appliances have all been added to “the list”. But for now, a fresh coat of paint seemed like the best way to start the transition.
Supplies and paint meant another trip to Home Depot (aka our second home). We chose Behr’s Paint and Primer In One with a satin finish for all the colors. The main wall color was done in Toffee Bar UL140-21 with an accent wall of Red Pepper UL120-22 and trim in Basketry UL140-9.
Before (apologies for only having images of the one side of the room):

The warmth that the new colors bring to the kitchen is fantastic! We also had fun taking the Red Pepper accent color and applying it to both the pantry door and the window sill. We also took the window valence that came with the house down and put up something more airy and fitting for our color scheme.
There are still aspects of the kitchen that need to be updated and changed. However, the paint job has given new life to the room and make the wait for those other changes more bearable.
My husband and I love to cook together too. We usually cook together on the weekends.
That’s when we usually do it too! Thanks for reading 🙂
The colors look fantastic!!! I can’t wait to see what your next project is!
Thanks Gregg! Will be posting more soon — been so busy trying to get landscaping done, that I haven’t had a chance to blog about it.
Oooh- I love red in a kitchen. 🙂
Thanks!! 🙂
