When I think about coming up with a quick, easy, and delicious dessert for a little “Impromptu Entertaining”, Brownies often come to mind! I discovered this recipe from a great blog called ‘Hospitably Yours‘. Stephanie frosted hers which looks like a wonderful and yummy chocolate decadence! However, for mine I wanted to keep things even more simpler so I just dusted them with powdered sugar. What I love about her recipe is that it doesn’t call for chocolate bakers squares (which I never seem to have the right amount for). Instead it only uses cocoa powder — something I always have on hand in the pantry!
Chocolate Brownies — slightly modified from Hospitably Yours
- 2 sticks butter, melted
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 Tbs vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Allow melted butter to cool completely.
Combine cocoa powder and butter.
In an electric stand mixture with the paddle attachment, beat eggs and sugar on low-medium speed until light.
Add cocoa mixture and mix until incorporated.
In a separate bowl, combine flour and salt.
Add flour mixture and beat until blended.
Add vanilla to mixture and combine until smooth.
Grease a 9×13″ pan.
Pour brownie batter into the pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes, or until passes the toothpick test.

This looks amazing! First you got us thinking about sandwiches, and now we’re dreaming about brownies!
Haha! I think that sounds like a wonderful combination

I love brownies but have not started baking because of the chocolate bakers squares too. I don’t think I am ready for that. This recipe is less stressful. Thanks for sharing kenley.
You’re quite welcome Danny!! Hope these work better for you!

So tempting, but I am on Lent until Easter, I am eliminating sweets this year.
Ah… well then you’ll just need to make these the beginning of April
Absolutely.
I love your take on these! They look beautiful with the dust of sugar! Yum:)
Thanks Stephanie!
